On the basis of more than 50 masterpieces, including paintings, artefacts and ship models, the exhibition the story of the Republic in the 17th and 18th centuries.
Travel through time? It's possible in Het Scheepvaartmuseum! Go back to the seventeenth century with the spectacular Virtual Reality time travel 'dare to discover – a VR journey'. The VR can be seen on board the VOC ship Amsterdam.

Willem van de Velde & Son Willem van de Velde the Elder and his son Willem van de Velde the Younger were leaders in the seventeenth-century marine painting and inspired many generations of painters after them. Now they are few known to the general public. This year that will change: the Van de Veldes will be once and for all always put on the map.
The Christiaan Brunings is a sailing monument that can be admired on the jetty of Het Scheepvaartmuseum.
Cartography & Curiosa depicts the encounter with a new world. You can see how the Dutch navigators from the 17th century found their way and how these journeys shaped the European world view determined.

The Maritime Museum commemorates the commemoration of the violent conquest in various ways of the Banda Islands by J.P. Coen 400 years ago. The investigation and presentation of a rare manuscript from the museum's collection is part of this.
